I am the Vice President of Education at CPA Canada. I am a Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA, FCA), I completed my PhD (Accounting) in 2003 at the University of Waterloo and my MA (Education) at the University of British Columbia in 2013. I was a faculty member in the Faculty of Management at UBC Okanagan from 2007-2013 and was a faculty member at the University of Alberta for five years before that.
I am heavily involved in the accounting profession, particularly accounting education. I was an elected council member for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC (2010-2014), past Chair for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Competency Map Committee (Chair 2011-2013, member 2007-2011), Associate Editor at Issues in Accounting Education (2010-2018), past Vice-chair for the BC Chartered Accountants Education Foundation (2007-2013), and past Chair of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association Education Committee (2007-2011). I have also been a board member for community non-profit associations including the BC Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Kelowna branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Kelowna branch of the United Way.
My research is focused on accounting education including curriculum, pedagogy, and faculty development issues.
